A consultation on the draft Kent County Council Libraries 26/11/18-29/01/19

Published: 26 November 2018

A consultation started today on the draft Kent County Council Libraries, Registration and Archives strategy for the next three years, including a proposal to tier libraries and review library opening hours.

As you may have seen in the local media, Kent County Council is looking at the future direction of Library, Registration and Archive services so that we can build a sustainable service for the future that maximises the positive benefits it can deliver.

The public consultation will run from today to 29 January 2019 and we wanted you to be aware of this and encourage you to consider the draft strategy as we are keen for feedback from your perspective. We want to hear everyone’s views before a formal decision is taken.

The draft strategy and the consultation questionnaire can be found online at www.kent.gov.uk/lrastrategy or paper copies are available in all Kent Libraries, Register Offices & Gateways.

We will also be running 20 drop-in sessions across the county in libraries where people can come and speak to our team about the proposals. You will find all the dates and times of these online.

We want to hear from as many people as possible. Please help us spread the word by sharing details of the consultation with your service users, staff and partners.

An Easy Read version of the draft strategy and questionnaire has been produced and is available from our website or in hard copy from our libraries. If you or your service users require any of the consultation material in an alternative format these can be requested via email alternativeformats@kent.gov.uk or phone 03000 421553 (text relay service number: 18001 03000 421553). This number goes to an answering machine which is monitored during office hours.

Should you have any specific questions about the proposal and how this might affect you or your partnership with us, please do not hesitate to contact us directly by emailing lraconsultation@kent.gov.uk or call 03000 413131.
