Warning after tool thefts from parked vans in the Kingshill area

Van owners in the Kings Hill area are reminded to lock tools away to deter opportunist thieves.

The advice comes after a number of reported tool thefts from vans during the day.

Between 11am and midday on Monday 21 January 2019, Kent Police was called regarding thefts from three vans parked near Jubilee Way.

Items including power tools, a satnav device, sunglasses and bank cards were reported stolen while the drivers were away from their vehicles.

Police Sergeant Andy Gallon said: ‘While we are investigating these offences, I would urge van owners to empty their vehicles of valuable equipment if possible.

‘If you are leaving your vehicle unattended make sure you lock all doors and close windows whenever you leave the van. Never leave anything valuable on display.

‘If possible park in a secure car park and try to leave the vehicle in an area which leaves no space to open the rear doors.’

Further advice includes wiping satnav suction marks from your windscreen or dashboard.

Anyone with information which may assist the investigation is asked to call 01622 604100 quoting reference 21-0500.
